“Part Time Jobs” in Major Metros

The Google Jobs widget will return a maximum of 150 jobs for any single query. Each one of those jobs can show a maximum of 6 apply links or buttons. That means real estate is at a premium. I wanted to take a look at how sites divided that “Share of Voice.”  Luckily, Forager allows us to do this analysis quickly.

For this quick analysis, we just looked at the top 5 cities by population. (In Part Two, we’ll look at smaller cities and compare the results.) Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston and Phoenix. We looked solely at the keyword “part time jobs” in each of those cities.

Let’s take a look at the results!

Summary

The major players in the job space are certainly present here. Snagajob, for these 5 queries, consistently takes the most share of voice, with Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter and LinkedIn consistently present as well. I think what is most interesting are the number of other players like Lensa, Adzuna and Tarta.ai taking a sizeable about of that real estate. If I were one of the stalwart job boards, I would definitely be keeping an eye on those guys and possibly taking a look at what they’re doing. Just goes to show you can never be complacent in this game.
