I guess it had to happen eventually…but Indeed jobs  are now appearing in the GFJ widget. The “elephant” has entered the room.

A long time ago, when I was the SEO Manager at Snagajob and Google Product Managers were asking us to help test this new product that would become Google for Jobs, Indeed actively disliked the idea of the widget and decided they wouldn’t participate. Indeed dominated (and still dominates) the “10 blue links” for job searches and GFJ was the one place job boards could go to try to find some traffic. Now, it seems Indeed has come around and every job board on the planet is going to feel the effects. 

This is no accident or some Google wizardry. Indeed is actively putting the job schema markup on their job postings. This signals an tectonic shift in SEO strategy and we’re all going to see it in our reports.

We’re going to start running some Forage reports to see if we can’t highlight some of the impacts of the new elephant in the room. It will be interesting to see how they compete with sites like ZipRecruiter and LinkedIn…and if they cannibalize sites like Glassdoor.
