New UX Tests in Job Details Views
We noticed this morning while running some Forager reports that Google appears to be running a couple of tests on the apply buttons. We think they look great! Let’s dive in. There are two things we want to call out:
Using Favicons as Logos
Just like the heading said, Google is testing using the favicons for the logos. I think this really looks nice, honestly. And it has to be easy for them to scrape and collect. Brilliant.
What should you do? I would take a look at your current favicon and see how it might look in this context. Does it need some sprucing up? Worth a look.
Calling Out Direct Apply
Look at these two buttons. One says “Apply on…” the other says “Apply directly on…”
I looked at the markup on that second button and, sure enough, it has this:
It looks like Google is finally testing using that field on the display layer. I don’t know if the page that button links to is a shining beacon for the proper use of that mark-up…I’m just saying it’s there and it appears to be having an effect on the front-end now.
Currently, I’m only able to see these tests when I’m not signed into a Google account. Your mileage may vary.
As with any of these tests, some go and some stay. So grains of salt all over the place. Good luck out there!
